Precautions for the use of mechanical seals in centrifugal heat transfer oil pumps

The hot oil pump is a single-stage, single suction cantilever structure that uses a bearing seat to connect the hydraulic components of the pump. The liquid is discharged through the outlet pipe component. The mechanical seal of the impeller on the single end face of the pump is a semi open impeller, and a mixing blade is installed at the inlet extension of the impeller blade. The main feature of this pump is that the pump shaft in the underwater part has sufficient rigidity. There are no bearings or shaft seals between the impeller and pump casing, and it can transport media rich in solid particles at a large depth. The length of the pump inserted into the liquid is between 800-2000, and if needed, a suction pipe can be included. The shaft seal is selected to work by inserting a submersible pump into the liquid without a shaft seal. The transmission specific mechanical seal is installed on the motor support and support seat by a vertical motor and connected to the pump with a coupling.


1. The greater the compression of the mechanical seal spring of the centrifugal heat transfer oil pump, the better the sealing effect. Originally, it was not the case. If the mechanical seal of the hot oil pump is tightened too much, it can cause rapid wear and tear of the conflict pair, resulting in instantaneous burning damage; Excessive tightening causes the tension spring to lose its ability to regulate the end face of the moving ring, resulting in seal failure.

Originally, tightening the sealing ring of the moving ring was harmful and not beneficial. One is to increase the wear of the sealing ring and shaft sleeve, causing premature leakage; Secondly, it increases the resistance to axial adjustment and movement of the moving ring, making it difficult to make timely adjustments when working conditions change frequently; Thirdly, excessive fatigue of the tension spring can easily damage it; The fourth is to deform the sealing ring of the moving ring, which affects the sealing effect.


3. The tighter the sealing ring of the static ring of the heat transfer oil pump, the better. The static ring seal is in a stopped state, and a relatively tight seal will have better sealing effect, but being too tight is also harmful. One is that it causes excessive deformation of the static ring seal, which affects the sealing effect; The second reason is that the raw material for the static ring is mostly graphite, which is usually brittle and can easily break under excessive stress; Thirdly, installation and disassembly are difficult, and it is easy to damage the static ring.


4. The tighter the lock nut of the heat transfer oil pump impeller, the better. In mechanical seal leakage, leakage between the shaft sleeve and the shaft (inter shaft leakage) is quite common. It is generally believed that inter shaft leakage is caused by the impeller lock nut not being tightened. There are many factors that can lead to inter shaft leakage, such as the failure and displacement of the inter shaft gasket, impurities in the inter shaft, significant positional errors at the joint between the shaft and the shaft sleeve, damaged contact surfaces, gaps between various components on the shaft, and excessively long screw threads on the shaft head, all of which can cause inter shaft leakage. Excessive locking of the locking nut will only cause premature failure of the shaft pad. On the contrary, moderately locking the locking nut will maintain a certain degree of tightness and elasticity of the shaft pad, and the locking nut will actively lock during operation, keeping the shaft pad in a good sealing condition.


5. The new thermal oil pump is better than the old one. Relatively speaking, the effectiveness of using new mechanical seals is better than old ones, but the quality or material selection of new mechanical seals is not timely, and errors in cooperation scale can greatly affect the sealing effect; In polymeric and permeable media, it is better not to replace the static ring if there is no excessive wear. Due to the static ring being in a stopped state for a long time in the static ring seat, the polymer and impurities are deposited together, which provides a good sealing effect.


6. Disassembling and repairing the heat transfer oil pump is better than not disassembling it at all. Once there is a mechanical seal leakage, it is urgent to dismantle and repair it. Originally, sometimes the seal is not damaged, and only adjusting the working conditions or appropriately adjusting the seal can eliminate the leakage. This not only prevents waste but also verifies one's own fault judgment ability, improving the quality of heap repair experience and maintenance.
